Unleashing the Beast: Carmel Greyhounds Defensive End Drill

๐Ÿ“ Carmel GreyhoundsยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the 6A season approaches, Carmel Greyhounds defensive ends are gearing up for a dominant performance. One key drill to master is the 'Rush and Recover' exercise. This drill targets the DE's ability to quickly change direction, accelerate, and maintain speed while pursuing the quarterback. To run this drill, set up two cones 10 yards apart with a third cone 5 yards beyond the second. Players will start at the first cone, rush to the second, then immediately change direction and recover to the third cone. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'explosive acceleration' and 'aggressive recovery.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the DE's ability to pursue and close on the quarterback, making it an essential addition to any 6A program's training regimen.
