Bishop Carroll CB DeShawn Smith Commits to Baylor

Bishop Carroll Class of 2026 cornerback DeShawn Smith has committed to Baylor University. Smith, a 5A standout, chose the Bears due to their aggressive defensive scheme, which aligns with his playing style. He also cited the opportunity to compete for a starting spot immediately, given the depth chart at Baylor. Additionally, Smith was drawn to the university's esteemed academic program, which will provide him with a strong foundation for his future. Smith had previously considered several other Division I programs, but ultimately chose Baylor for its combination of athletic and academic opportunities. He is expected to arrive on campus in the summer of 2027 and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
