Explosive Route Running for 5A WRs: The 'L-Cut' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Mill Valley JaguarsยทSunday, July 12, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Mill Valley Jaguars' wide receivers are gearing up for another strong season, and a key component of their pre-season training is the 'L-Cut' drill. This drill targets the quick change of direction and speed needed to excel in the 5A classification. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then sprint 10 yards before making a sharp 'L' cut to the left (or right). The coaching cue is to 'cut on the toes,' keeping the feet light and agile. This drill translates to game performance by improving a WR's ability to create separation and get open quickly. By emphasizing speed and agility, the Jaguars' WRs will be ready to take on the competition in the 5A division.
