Speed and Agility Drill for Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles S Players
This summer, Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles S players can improve their speed and agility with a specific drill. The 'L-Drill' involves setting up four cones in a large square, with the first and third cones 10 yards apart, and the second and fourth cones 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, then dash to the second cone, make a sharp cut to the third cone, and finish with a quick change of direction to the fourth cone. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'explosive acceleration' and 'aggressive footwork.' This drill translates to game performance by improving players' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate through tight spaces, making them more effective in coverage and pursuit. The L-Drill also helps build endurance and speed, setting S players up for success in the 5A classification.
