As the inaugural season of University of Nebraska's NCAA Division 1 flag football program approaches in 2028, multisport standout Emily Johnson of the Derby Panthers is eyeing a future in the sport. Coaches Liz and Katie Sowers have been actively recruiting top talent, and Johnson believes her skills on the field could translate to a scholarship opportunity. "I've always been athletic, and flag football offers a new challenge that I'm eager to take on," Johnson said. "With the University of Nebraska's program on the horizon, I'm excited to explore my options and see where this new passion takes me." Johnson has been in contact with Ottawa University, Kansas, which offers up to 12 NAIA scholarships, and Keiser University, Florida, an active recruiter in the NAIA Sun Conference. Midland University, Nebraska, has also expressed interest in the talented athlete.
