Unlocking Defensive End Dominance: The Husky Hedge Drill

๐Ÿ“ Blue Valley Northwest HuskiesยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Blue Valley Northwest Huskies, defensive end players are gearing up for a dominant season with the introduction of the Husky Hedge Drill. This drill targets the critical skills of speed, agility, and hand placement. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive forward 5 yards, planting their inside foot and extending their arms to 'hedge' a defender. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'hands up.' This drill translates to game performance by improving players' ability to quickly close gaps and secure tackles. By mastering the Husky Hedge Drill, defensive ends will be better equipped to disrupt opponents and lead the Huskies to victory.
