Covington Catholic Colonels' Coach-Approved Agility Ladder Drill for 5A K Players

๐Ÿ“ Covington Catholic ColonelsยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Covington Catholic Colonels' coaching staff has identified the importance of agility and speed in their 5A program. To improve these skills, they recommend the following drill for their K players: the 'Ladder Weave and Crossover.' Set up an agility ladder on the field and have players perform the following sequence: 3 sets of 10 reps of the ladder weave, followed by 3 sets of 10 reps of the crossover step-through. Coaching cues include: 'Quick feet, keep them light,' and 'Stay low, stay agile.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a player's ability to change direction quickly and maintain speed. It also enhances their overall footwork and reaction time, allowing them to make quicker decisions on the field.
