Tight End Power: Covington Catholic Colonels' Summer Drill to Dominate the Middle

๐Ÿ“ Covington Catholic ColonelsยทWednesday, July 1, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Covington Catholic Colonels are gearing up for another powerhouse season, and their tight ends are no exception. To develop the strength and agility needed to dominate the middle, Colonels' coach, Mike Breyer, recommends the 'TE Power Drill'. This intense workout targets the TE's ability to block, release, and secure the ball in traffic. To run the drill, set up three stations: blocking, release, and ball security. At each station, have your TE perform 3 sets of 10 reps. During blocking, focus on proper footwork and hand placement. In the release station, emphasize quickness and separation from the defender. For ball security, practice securing the ball with both hands while being hit by a defender. This drill translates to game performance by developing the TE's ability to protect the quarterback, create separation, and secure the ball in tight spaces.
