Explosive Power for 6A RBs: The Trinity Shamrocks' Box Jump Blast

๐Ÿ“ Trinity ShamrocksยทSunday, July 5, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve their explosiveness and power, Trinity Shamrocks' running backs will be incorporating the Box Jump Blast drill into their pre-season training. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 60 seconds of rest in between sets. The setup involves a 24-inch box or bench, and the player must explosively jump onto the box, then immediately step down and repeat. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'explode upward.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the RB's ability to quickly accelerate and decelerate, making them more elusive to defenders. It also enhances their power and explosiveness, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards after contact.
