Covington Catholic Colonels WRs: Master the 'Route Box' Drill
This summer, Covington Catholic Colonels wide receivers can dominate on the field with the 'Route Box' drill. Set up a 10x10 yard box with cones. Divide the box into four quadrants: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, and bottom-right. Have WRs start in the top-left quadrant. On the coach's signal, they must sprint to the top-right, then immediately cut to the bottom-right, and finally back to the top-left. Repeat for 3 sets of 15 reps. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, sharp cuts!' and 'Keep your eyes on the quarterback!' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly change direction and read the defense. It also enhances their acceleration and deceleration, allowing them to separate from defenders and get open downfield.
