Sprint Back to Success: A Speed Training Tip for 6A S Players

๐Ÿ“ Male BulldogsยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top 6A programs like Male Bulldogs, speed is a key factor in determining success on the field. To improve their acceleration and top-end speed, S players can benefit from the 'Resistance Band Shuttle Drill'. This drill involves setting up two cones 10 yards apart, with a resistance band anchored to one cone. Players start at the other cone, wearing a weighted vest or ankle weights to increase resistance. They then perform a shuttle run, changing direction quickly while maintaining top speed. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'explosive acceleration' and 'maintaining top gear through the turn.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a player's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, making them a more elusive and effective receiver.
