Summer QB Drill: Building Pocket Presence for Male Bulldogs

๐Ÿ“ Male BulldogsยทFriday, July 17, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Quarterbacks at 6A programs like Male Bulldogs must develop the ability to read defenses and make quick decisions in the pocket. To improve this skill, coaches can implement the '3-Step Drop Drill'. Set up three cones in a row, 5 yards apart, and have the QB start behind the first cone. On the whistle, the QB drops back 3 steps, focusing on proper footwork and body positioning. After reaching the third cone, the QB must identify a target and throw a pass to a receiver. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'eyes up, feet back' and 'throw with conviction.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the QB's ability to read defenses and make accurate throws on the run.
