FridayNightPulse: LB Drills for 4A Dominance
This summer, Edna Karr Cougars linebackers can take their game to the next level with the 'Shuttle and Fill' drill. To start, divide players into pairs with one player as the ball carrier and the other as the linebacker. Set up a 10-yard box with cones. The ball carrier will start at one end of the box and the linebacker at the other. On the whistle, the ball carrier will sprint to the opposite end of the box while the linebacker will shuttle to the ball carrier, filling the gap. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cue: 'Fill the hole, don't just fill the space.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time and tackling efficiency. It also simulates the chaos of a game, forcing linebackers to make quick decisions under pressure.
