FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Edna Karr Cougars OL Drill

๐Ÿ“ Edna Karr CougarsยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve the Edna Karr Cougars' 4A program's OL performance, Coach Thompson recommends a 'Plyometric Pull' drill. Set up a line of 3-4 cones, spaced 3 yards apart. Have OL players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively pull themselves forward, landing on the balls of their feet behind the first cone. Players must immediately transition into a 2-point stance and drive through the next cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'Explode, don't pull' and 'Keep your head up, eyes forward.' This drill translates to game performance by improving OL players' ability to quickly change direction and generate power in their pulls. It also enhances their footwork and agility, allowing them to stay one step ahead of defenders.
