FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Edge Rusher Dominance Drill for 4A Defensive Ends

๐Ÿ“ Edna Karr CougarsยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 4A powerhouses like Edna Karr Cougars, developing dominant defensive ends is crucial for success. To improve speed, agility, and power, we recommend the "Rapid Fire Tuck Drill". Set up cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Players start at the first cone, then quickly change direction and accelerate to the second cone, tucking their elbow to their body. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps, resting 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues: "Tuck and turn, tuck and turn!" and "Fast feet, fast hands!" This drill translates to game performance by improving the ability to quickly change direction and accelerate off the edge, allowing defensive ends to chase down ball carriers and sack the quarterback.
