Game-Changing CB Drill for Everett Crimson Tide

๐Ÿ“ Everett Crimson TideยทSaturday, July 4, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The 'Shadow and Cover' drill is a crucial component of the Crimson Tide's cornerback training regimen. This drill focuses on developing the quickness and agility necessary to stay with top receivers. To set up the drill, divide the players into pairs with one player as the receiver and the other as the cornerback. The receiver will start at the line of scrimmage, while the cornerback will start 5 yards off the line. The coach will call out a cadence, and the receiver will sprint 10 yards downfield. The cornerback must quickly close the gap, staying within 2 yards of the receiver. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest period between sets. Coaching cues include 'Shadow the receiver' and 'Stay on their hip.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching cornerbacks to quickly react to the receiver's movement and stay in phase, making it difficult for the receiver to gain separation.
