The MIAA's pilot district expansion for girls flag football is set to create new scholarship pathways for Texas athletes. As the inaugural 2028 season approaches, the University of Nebraska is poised to offer Power 4 status with coaches Liz and Katie Sowers at the helm. Nebraska-based Ottawa University, Kansas, and Midland University are also active recruiters, offering up to 12 scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, is another NAIA powerhouse with a strong recruiting presence. Meanwhile, UT Arlington is developing its NCAA D1 program, although scholarships have not yet been announced. Xaverian Brothers Hawks athletes in Texas should take note: this expansion creates new opportunities for their peers to pursue flag football scholarships.
