Explosive Power: Xaverian Brothers Hawks' RB Drill for Success
This summer, the Xaverian Brothers Hawks are focusing on explosive power in their running back drills. The 'Box Jump to Lateral Bound' exercise is a key component of their training program. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a box jump position, then jump up and immediately transition into a lateral bound, landing on the outside foot and immediately exploding back to the starting position. Coaching cues include 'quick turnover' and 'explosive acceleration.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a running back's ability to quickly change direction and accelerate out of cuts, making them more elusive to defenders. By incorporating this drill into their training, the Hawks' RBs will be better equipped to dominate on the field this fall.
