Good Counsel Falcons Coach Sees Flag Football as Viable College Pathway

Good Counsel Falcons coach sees flag football as a legitimate college pathway for local athletes. With the NCAA's Emerging Sports for Women program adding women's flag football in January 2026, the Falcons' coach believes the sport's growth will create new opportunities for players. The University of Nebraska is the only Power 4 school with a fully funded D1 varsity program, offering scholarships to top talent. NAIA programs like Ottawa University in Kansas, Keiser University in Florida and Midland University in Nebraska also offer active scholarships. UT Arlington in Texas is a developing D1 program. For Falcons players, the coach emphasizes the importance of developing their skills and seeking out these opportunities. 'We're not just talking about a few scholarships,' the coach said. 'There are real pathways for our athletes to take their talents to the next level.'
