Area Athlete Sees Flag Football as Path to College Opportunity

DeMatha Catholic Stags multisport standout, Emily Wilson, has set her sights on the emerging NCAA Division 1 flag football program at the University of Nebraska. Coached by the Sowers sisters, Liz and Katie, the Cornhuskers are set to launch their inaugural 2028 season. Wilson has been training at DeMatha's summer flag football camp, honing her skills alongside top area talent. With the program's Power 4 status, Wilson is aware of the high level of competition she'll face, but she's confident in her abilities. As she prepares for the upcoming high school season, Wilson is also exploring NAIA options at Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, both of which offer up to 12 scholarships. Midland University, Nebraska, is also on her radar, with its active recruiting efforts. Meanwhile, UT Arlington's developing program is worth monitoring, though scholarships have not yet been announced. Wilson's decision will come down to finding the right fit and opportunity for her future in flag football.
