Building a Foundation: The Windham Eagles' OL Block-Shuffle Drill
As the Windham Eagles prepare for the upcoming season, their offensive line coaches are focusing on developing the skills of their linemen. One key drill that has been implemented is the block-shuffle, designed to improve footwork, hand placement, and overall blocking technique. The drill consists of three sets of 10 reps: (1) start in a three-point stance, shuffle 5 yards to the left, and block a defender, (2) repeat to the right, and (3) repeat to the left, focusing on quick feet and explosive power. Coaching cues include 'shimmy' for the shuffle and 'load' for the block. This drill translates to game performance by improving the linemen's ability to quickly adjust to defensive schemes and maintain a strong block on the edge. By mastering the block-shuffle, the Eagles' OL will be well-prepared to take on the competition this season.
