Bangor Rams RBs Get Ready for Season with 'Power Through' Drill
As the Bangor Rams prepare for another strong season, running backs coach, Mark Ellis, has a drill that targets the key to success: breaking tackles. The 'Power Through' drill is a game-changer for RBs looking to improve their ability to push through contact and gain extra yards. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest in between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explode forward, lowering their center of gravity and keeping their elbows close to their body. As they hit the pad, they must 'power through' and drive their legs into the ground, keeping their upper body tight. This translates to game performance by teaching RBs to maintain their balance and generate power through contact, allowing them to break tackles and gain extra yards.
