Sprint and Cut Drill for Stags' Speedsters

๐Ÿ“ Cheverus StagsยทMonday, July 20, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Cheverus Stags prepare for another strong season, S players must be ready to make game-changing plays. To improve their speed and agility, Coach Thompson recommends the following drill: The 5-Yard Shuttle. Set up two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 10 yards away. Players start at the first cone, sprint to the second, then immediately cut to the third cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: 'Focus on explosive acceleration, then quickly change direction.' 'Keep your eyes up and stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a player's ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the fly. It's a key component of the Stags' speed and agility training program.
