Crusader Running Backs: Master the 'Power Hurdle' Drill
At Detroit King Crusaders, our running backs are working tirelessly to improve their speed, agility, and power. One key drill that's paying dividends is the 'Power Hurdle' exercise. This drill targets the glutes, hamstrings, and quads, essential for explosive acceleration and deceleration on the field. Here's how to run the drill: Set up 5 hurdles spaced 5 yards apart. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick, powerful steps over each hurdle. Coaching cue: 'Drive through the hurdle, don't just step over it.' This drill translates to game performance by improving running backs' ability to change direction quickly and maintain top-end speed. By mastering the 'Power Hurdle' drill, our RBs are better equipped to break tackles and take it to the house.
