Raiders' Rush: Unlocking Dominance for Defensive Ends

๐Ÿ“ Cretin-Derham Hall RaidersยทTuesday, July 7, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Cretin-Derham Hall, our defensive ends are gearing up for a strong season with a focus on explosive acceleration. The 'Speed Chute' drill targets quick burst and agility. Set up two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 10 yards beyond. Players start at the first cone, then sprint to the second, cutting sharply to change direction. After a 10-second rest, they accelerate through the third cone, mimicking a tackle. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 2-minute break between sets. Coaching cues: 'Fast feet, fast hands,' and 'Drive through the cut.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing DEs to rapidly change direction and accelerate off the line, creating pressure on the quarterback.
