Raiders' QBs Get Ready for Season with 'Read and React' Drill
Quarterbacks at Cretin-Derham Hall are gearing up for the 2026 season with a key drill that focuses on their ability to read defenses and react quickly. The 'Read and React' drill involves the QB standing 5 yards behind the center, with a defensive lineman or linebacker simulating a blitz. The QB must read the defender's alignment and react by taking a 3-step drop, then either throwing a quick pass to a receiver or taking off running. The drill is done in sets of 3 reps, with 30 seconds of rest in between. Coaches will be looking for QBs to quickly identify the blitz and make a decisive decision. This drill translates to game performance by allowing QBs to develop the ability to read defenses and make split-second decisions under pressure. By mastering this drill, Raiders' QBs will be better equipped to handle the toughest defenses in the 5A Metro Conference.
