Sprint to Success: Lakeville North's Speed Training for 6A S Players
The Lakeville North Panthers' coaching staff has developed a high-intensity speed training drill to prepare their S players for the upcoming season. The 'Sprint Shuttle' drill involves setting up two cones 10 yards apart, with a third cone 5 yards beyond the second. Players start at the first cone, sprint to the second, then backpedal to the third cone, before finally sprinting back to the starting point. Perform 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'explosive acceleration' and 'aggressive backpedaling.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to quickly close gaps and cover sideline-to-sideline. By incorporating this drill into their training regimen, Lakeville North's S players will be well-prepared to take on the competition in the 6A division.
