FridayNightPulse: WR Drills for 6A Success

๐Ÿ“ Lakeville North PanthersยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At 6A programs like Lakeville North Panthers, wide receivers need every advantage to dominate on the field. One drill that can help is the 'Route Box Drill.' Set up a 10x10 yard grid on the practice field with four stations: 'go,' 'post,' 'out,' and 'corner.' Divide your WRs into groups of three and have them rotate through each station. At each station, have a coach or trainer throw a pass to the WR, focusing on proper route running and ball placement. For sets and reps, complete three sets of 10 reps per station, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Run the route, don't just jog it,' and 'Keep your eyes on the quarterback.' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to read coverage and make precise cuts, leading to more open receivers and bigger plays.
