FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Power Drill
This summer, Tight End coaches at top programs like De Smet Spartans, Blue Springs Wildcats, Park Hill Panthers, Liberty Eagles, and Rockhurst Hawklets are focusing on a drill that will separate their players from the rest. The 'Tight End Power Drill' involves a 3-set, 10-rep sequence where players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive through a mini-hurdle before immediately planting their feet and catching a pass from a quarterback. Coaches are emphasizing proper footwork, keeping the back knee bent, and extending the arms to secure the catch. This drill translates to game performance by improving a TE's ability to quickly change direction, maintain balance, and secure passes in tight spaces. Run this drill 2-3 times a week for 4-6 weeks to see significant improvement in your Tight End's game-day performance.
