FridayNightPulse: LB Drill for Speed and Agility
Christian Brothers College Cadets, Park Hill South Panthers, St. Louis High Blues, Lee's Summit North Broncos, and Blue Springs Wildcats are among the top Missouri programs gearing up for the 2026 season. One key area of focus for linebackers is speed and agility. To improve their quickness and reaction time, these teams are incorporating the 'Ladder Shuffle Drill.' The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps on each foot, shuffling through a ladder with a focus on rapid foot movement and change of direction. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'light on your toes.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing linebackers to rapidly close gaps and pursue ball carriers in pursuit. It also enhances their ability to stay with receivers in coverage, making them a more well-rounded defender.
