Unlock Explosive Kickoff Returns with the 'Hawklet Hop'

๐Ÿ“ Rockhurst HawkletsยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Rockhurst Hawklets' special teams coach, Tom Johnson, swears by the 'Hawklet Hop' drill to develop game-changing kickoff returners. This high-intensity exercise targets speed, agility, and acceleration. For K players at Rockhurst, Park Hill, Lee's Summit West, St. Joseph Central, and Blue Springs South, follow this drill: 3 sets of 10 reps, 20 yards, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, explosively jumping forward and landing on both feet. As they hop, focus on keeping the knees bent and weight centered. This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, allowing K players to quickly change direction and accelerate down the field.
