Tight End Training: Rocking the Rock Drill

๐Ÿ“ Rockhurst HawkletsยทSaturday, July 18, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Rockhurst Hawklets tight ends coach, Mark Davis, is implementing a new drill to improve his players' blocking technique and agility. The 'Rocking the Rock' drill involves a series of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest in between each set. Players line up in a 3-point stance, 5 yards apart, and focus on exploding off the line, using their feet to drive through the defender. Coaching cues include 'Hands up, eyes up, and drive through!' and 'Keep your head up, stay low!' This drill translates to game performance by improving players' ability to quickly change direction and maintain balance in traffic. It also enhances their ability to generate power and speed off the line, making them more effective blockers.
