FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Speed and Agility Drill

๐Ÿ“ De Smet SpartansยทSaturday, July 25, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, linebackers at top programs like De Smet Spartans, Blue Springs Wildcats, Park Hill Trojans, Lee's Summit Tigers, and St. Joseph's Indians are working on a key drill to improve their speed and agility. The 'Ladder Weave' drill involves setting up a ladder on the field and having the LB players perform a series of footwork exercises. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on quick, explosive movements. As the players progress, add a weave pattern through the ladder, changing direction quickly. Coaching cues include 'Fast feet, fast mind' and 'Quick cuts, not big steps.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the LB's ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the field.
