Game-Changing CB Drill for AA Programs: 'Shadow & Mirror'

๐Ÿ“ Great Falls BisonยทFriday, July 10, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top AA programs like Great Falls Bison, cornerbacks are constantly working to refine their technique and gain a competitive edge. One effective drill to achieve this is the 'Shadow & Mirror' exercise. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. The CB player will shadow a receiver, mirroring their every move, while maintaining a 5-yard distance. After 5 reps, the CB will burst into a full-speed sprint, mirroring the receiver's acceleration. Coaching cues include: 'Stay on their hip,' 'Mirror their footwork,' and 'Burst into speed.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and the ability to stay with receivers on deep routes.
