Broncos' Kicker Prepares for Season with 'Pinpoint' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Billings Senior BroncsยทThursday, July 30, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Billings Senior High, Broncos' special teams coach, Mike Johnson, has his kickers preparing for the upcoming season with a 'Pinpoint' drill. The drill focuses on accuracy and consistency from 30 yards out. Kicking specialists will start in a lunge position, with their plant foot forward and non-kicking foot back. They will then kick the ball through a series of small targets, each 3 feet wide, spaced 5 yards apart. The kicker must make 3 consecutive kicks through each target to move on to the next one. Johnson emphasizes the importance of keeping the lunge foot stable and using the non-kicking foot to generate power. This drill translates to game performance by helping kickers develop the ability to consistently hit their marks and make clutch kicks in high-pressure situations.
