FridayNightPulse: CB Clinic - 'Shadow' Drill for AA Programs

๐Ÿ“ Great Falls BisonยทFriday, July 31, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At AA programs like Great Falls Bison, cornerbacks need every advantage to stay one step ahead of opponents. One effective drill to improve their skills is the 'Shadow' drill. This exercise focuses on mirroring the receiver's every move, staying in phase, and reacting to the ball. To run the drill, set up a receiver at 10-yard intervals on a 20-yard line. The CB will start at the 5-yard line, mirroring the receiver's every step. After 3-5 reps, switch to a 5-yard line and repeat. Coaching cues: 'Stay in phase,' 'Mirror the receiver,' and 'React to the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching CBs to stay disciplined, anticipate routes, and make plays on the ball.
