Agility Ladder Drill for 4A Linebackers: Boosting Speed and Agility at Grimsley Whirlies

๐Ÿ“ Grimsley WhirliesยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This agility ladder drill is designed to improve speed, agility, and reaction time for 4A linebackers at Grimsley Whirlies. The drill consists of three sets of 3-5 reps each, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. The ladder is placed on the ground, and players start in a three-point stance. On the coach's signal, players quickly perform a 'Ickey Shuffle' (quick feet, small steps) through the ladder, then immediately transition into a 'Carioca Drill' (side-to-side shuffling) through the ladder. The key coaching cues are to 'keep the feet quick' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a linebacker's ability to quickly change direction and cover sideline-to-sideline.
