Tackling the Competition: A Drill for 4A Linebackers

๐Ÿ“ Grimsley WhirliesยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Grimsley Whirlies linebackers can improve their tackling technique with a specific drill. The 'Tackle Box' drill involves a series of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players will start in a 3-point stance, then explode to the ball carrier, using their outside foot to drive through the tackle. Coaching cues include 'drive through the tackle' and 'keep your head up.' This drill translates to game performance by teaching linebackers to stay low and explosive, while also maintaining control and balance. By mastering the Tackle Box drill, Whirlies linebackers will be better equipped to take down opponents and make game-changing plays this season.
