FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Agility Ladder Drill

๐Ÿ“ Bismarck DemonsยทMonday, July 6, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At AAA programs like the Bismarck Demons, linebackers need to be quick and agile to stay with the best running backs in the state. One drill that can help improve their speed and agility is the agility ladder drill. Have your LBs set up an agility ladder on the field and perform the following sequence: 5 sets of 10 reps of lateral shuffles, followed by 5 sets of 10 reps of high knees through the ladder. After each set, have them rest for 30 seconds. Coaching cues include keeping their feet shoulder-width apart and their knees bent, and emphasizing quick footwork and explosive acceleration. This drill translates to game performance by improving LBs' ability to quickly change direction and stay with ballcarriers in space.
