FridayNightPulse: Tight End Training Tip

๐Ÿ“ West Fargo PackersยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At AAA programs like West Fargo Packers, tight ends need to be prepared for the physical demands of the position. One effective drill to improve their blocking technique is the 'Box Drill.' Divide the tight ends into pairs, with one player as the blocker and the other as the defender. Set up a box with cones, approximately 5 yards wide and 5 yards deep. The blocker must drive through the box, keeping their feet shoulder-width apart and their hands inside the defender's shoulder pads. The defender must stay inside the box and try to stop the blocker. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'drive through the box' and 'stay inside the defender's shoulder pads.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to block in tight spaces and maintain their balance under contact.
