Speed and Agility Drill for Wide Receivers at Fargo Shanley Deacons

๐Ÿ“ Fargo Shanley DeaconsยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Fargo Shanley Deacons are gearing up for another successful season in North Dakota's high school football scene. To improve their wide receivers' speed and agility, Coach Thompson recommends the following drill: 'Shuttle Runs with Crossovers.' This drill targets the quick changes of direction and acceleration that are essential for success on the field. The drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with a 30-second rest period between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then sprint 10 yards to a designated point, perform a crossover step, and immediately change direction to sprint back to the starting point. Coaching cues include 'Keep your eyes on the finish line' and 'Drive through your crossover.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a receiver's ability to quickly accelerate and change direction, making them a more elusive target for defenders.
