FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Tight End Speed and Agility Drill

๐Ÿ“ Mandan BravesยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Tight ends at AA programs like Mandan Braves need to be able to create separation and make plays down the seam. One drill to improve their speed and agility is the 'Tight End Ladder Drill'. Set up a ladder on the field with 5-6 rungs. Have the tight end start at one end of the ladder and perform a 5-yard dash to the first rung, then immediately change direction and perform a 5-yard dash to the next rung, and so on. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps in each direction. Coaching cues include 'explosive start', 'quick feet', and 'aggressive cuts'. This drill translates to game performance by improving the tight end's ability to quickly change direction and create separation from defenders.
