DeShawn Johnson Commits to Houston Football

๐Ÿ“ Omaha Burke BulldogsยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Omaha Burke defensive end DeShawn Johnson has committed to play football at the University of Houston. Johnson, a Class of 2026 prospect, chose the Cougars over offers from several other Power Five programs. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound Johnson is expected to fit seamlessly into Houston's defensive scheme, which emphasizes speed and athleticism. With the Cougars' depth chart at defensive end, Johnson should have an opportunity to contribute immediately. Houston's strong academic program also played a significant role in Johnson's decision. Johnson previously held offers from Nebraska and Iowa State, but ultimately decided to join the Cougars. The Omaha Burke standout will look to make an impact in the American Athletic Conference this fall.
