Burke Bulldogs' Kicker Prep Drill: Building Power and Accuracy

๐Ÿ“ Omaha Burke BulldogsยทSunday, July 5, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top programs like Omaha Burke Bulldogs, kickers need to be prepared for the demands of high-pressure games. To build power and accuracy, Coach Thompson recommends the 'Power Step' drill. Players start with a 10-yard approach, focusing on a smooth, explosive step into the ball. They then perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'Step, plant, strike' and 'Follow through, don't lift.' This drill translates to game performance by strengthening the leg and improving technique under fatigue. To increase difficulty, add a wind block or have a teammate simulate a punt return. By incorporating the Power Step drill into their training, Burke's kickers will be ready to deliver clutch performances this season.
