FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Millard South Patriots CB Drill

๐Ÿ“ Millard South PatriotsยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Millard South Patriots cornerbacks will be put to the test this season, and it starts with a specific drill designed to improve their footwork and reaction time. The 'Shadow Shuffle' drill involves setting up cones in a zig-zag pattern, with the CB starting at one end. The coach will call out a color, and the CB must quickly shuffle to the corresponding cone, then immediately pivot and react to a coach-led 'ball change' (a fake handoff or toss). The drill is performed for 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest in between. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay on the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the CB's ability to quickly close on receivers and stay with them in coverage.
