FridayNightPulse: Tight End Training Tip

๐Ÿ“ Millard South PatriotsยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For top Tight End prospects at A programs like Millard South Patriots, a key area of focus is developing reliable pass-catching skills. To improve this, implement the 'Route Box Drill.' Divide players into pairs, with one player as the receiver and the other as the quarterback. Set up a 10-yard box with cones, with each corner marked with a number (1-4). The quarterback calls out a number, and the receiver must run to the corresponding corner, using a specific route (e.g. out, in, post). The quarterback then throws a pass to the receiver. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues: 'Keep your feet light, stay low, and track the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to quickly read the quarterback and get into position to make a catch.
