Burke Bulldogs OL Drill: Building Power and Strength
The Omaha Burke Bulldogs' offensive line is known for its physicality and dominance on the gridiron. One key drill that helps them develop the power and strength needed to succeed is the 'Medicine Ball Slam.' This drill targets the OL's ability to generate torque and explosiveness, translating directly to game performance. The drill consists of three sets of 10 reps: 1) Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, holding a medicine ball at chest level; 2) Slam the medicine ball to the ground, focusing on explosive extension; 3) Immediately return to the starting position. Coaching cues include 'slam it to the ground' and 'explode through your heels.' This drill helps OL players develop the raw strength and power needed to overpower defenders and create holes for the running back.
