Pinkerton Academy Astros Girls Flag Football Athletes Eye Inaugural Nebraska Scholarship Opportunities
As NHIAA's flag football pilot district expansion creates new scholarship pathways for Texas athletes, the Pinkerton Academy Astros are looking to capitalize on the trend. With the University of Nebraska set to launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 girls flag football program in 2028, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, the Astros are eyeing the Cornhuskers' Power 4 status as a prime opportunity for their student-athletes. In addition to Nebraska, the Astros are also exploring scholarship options at Ottawa University, Kansas, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, all of which offer verified scholarship programs in girls flag football. Astros coaches are urging eligible student-athletes to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center and explore these scholarship opportunities.
