Pirate TE's: Master the 'Y' Drill for Dominant Downfield Production

๐Ÿ“ Seton Hall Prep PiratesยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Summer is in full swing, and Non-Public A TE's at Seton Hall Prep are gearing up for a championship run. To dominate downfield, Pirate TE's must perfect the 'Y' drill. This drill focuses on releasing off the line, creating separation, and securing the catch. Set up 3-4 cones in a 'Y' formation, 5 yards apart. The TE starts at the top of the 'Y', then sprints to the first cone, planting their outside foot and releasing to the second cone. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues: 'Release, release, release! Eyes on the target!' and 'Catch it with your hands, not your body!' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to separate from defenders and secure crucial catches in the red zone.
