Don Bosco Prep OLs: Master the 'Rip and Rebuild' Drill for Dominant Line Play
This summer, Don Bosco Prep's OL coach can boost his Ironmen's strength and technique with the 'Rip and Rebuild' drill. Set up a series of five 5-yard blocks on the field, spaced 2 yards apart. OL players will start at the first block, then rip the pad with their hands, driving their feet and hips into the ground. As they rip, they'll quickly rebuild by placing their hands back on the pad and repeating the process. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'Rip with your feet!' and 'Rebuild with your hands!' This drill translates to game performance by improving OL players' ability to generate power and control at the point of attack, allowing them to dominate their opponents and clear a path for their RBs.
